Submitting a Currently Unavoidable Use Proposal for PFAS in Maine Quick Links Adopted April 2025: Chapter 90 - Products Containing Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Maine Enterprise Licensing System (MELS) Hub To submit a proposal for the determination of a Currently Unavoidable Use for PFAS in the State of Maine: Go to the MELS Hub and click on “ Create Account ”. You need to have a MELS Account in order to submit a proposal.

Order adopting rules: PFAS in products reporting and fees
A manufacturer or group of manufacturers of a product that is sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the state and that contains intentionally added PFAS must submit a report to the commissioner on or before January 1, 2026.
This notice records an adopted rule. The publication date and the date the rule takes effect may differ; check the original notice for those dates.
